Welcome
to Dancespace. Our aim is for everyone to enjoy learning to dance. Our approach is kind and encouraging,
and most of all we enjoy teaching children of this age.
- PLEASE DO NOT VIDEO CLASSES
IN PROGRESS
Under
the Privacy Act, we have been advised that it is an unsafe practice to allow
children to be videoed and we ask that you refrain from doing this. We have
also had other dance studios copy our work and with the amount of preparation
that goes into classes we like to safeguard ourselves.
- HOW WILL
YOUR CHILD LEARN?
Please don’t be frustrated if your child does not join in straight away.
You would be surprised what they are taking in by just watching. Without
pressure, but with encouragement, they will soon be participating.
If you
notice that your child’s behaviour is slowing down the class or disrupting the
group, please join in and support us for the sake of the progress of the whole
class. On the odd occasion we have children crying (often younger siblings
watching). This can be disturbing to those participating in the class.
Should your child cry, please take them away until they quiet down.
Every
term the music and routines change. Some children find this a little
disconcerting but within a couple of weeks are feeling more familiar and
confident. We like to give out badges as a form of encouragement.
Please advise us if your child has never received one.
- END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE
In
November or December of each year, Dancespace Preschool puts on a performance involving all
our pupils. We
find the children really enjoy this and the boost in their confidence is
incredible. It is also a great opportunity for extended family and friends
to watch them perform.
- DANCESPACE PRESCHOOL
UNIFORM
Our Dancespace
leotard is all that it required to start. The full Dancespace uniform is our
blue leotard, our blue tutu pants, pink ballet shoes, pink ballet tights or pink
ankle socks, tappys or tap shoes. We have stocks of all these items
at our Dancespace
shop and are happy to assist you. Please do not wear
odd skirts or shoes.
- DANCESPACE SHOP
We sell
leotards, leggings, bike shorts, bootlegs, ballet and tap tights, x-over
cardigans, Dancespace t-shirts, tutu skirts, wrap skirts, ballet, jazz and tap
shoes (shoes both new and second hand). Please phone Hayley or
Sally to assist you with any requirements.
- "LEARN TO
DANCE" DVD
We have created a DVD especially for the two to seven year age group. In a
fun way your child can learn basic steps in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop, and
will practice them over and over again as they dance along with the DVD.
They also get to meet our magical fairy, "Pink Sparkle". You can buy one direct
from us or email your order to
dance_@ihug.co.nz. The DVD costs $25.00 per copy.
